We would like to say a big thank you to all our users that completed our recent survey and was thrilled to get back 779 completed surveys! The results and feedback from this will really help us to understand exactly what you want from the website and provide us with ideas for making improvements in the future.
We are very pleased that so many of you are supportive of what we are trying to achieve and took time to provide comments and suggestions too.
We were not too surprised to find that the main reason for you to visit our website is to look for riding routes! Those of you that a find a selection of routes in your area are pleased, for those that don’t find any, you naturally get frustrated.
Our aim originally was to create a service where riders simply shared information on their own local routes, so other riders could benefit from their local knowledge. If just half of our registered community shared one route we would have 10,000 routes! Unfortunately there has not been the uptake in this service that we expected for one reason or another. This causes frustration amongst you because you re-visit the website expecting there to be more routes available that are not there. So, that is something for us to think about!
A number of points were also raised in relation to using the website. 76% of you felt the website was easy to use, whereas 15% felt the website was difficult to use. We hope to review this further and explore options with you in future surveys.
In terms of what additional features you would like from the website, over 80% of you would like a listing of individual bridleways in your area and nearly 50% of you want a comprehensive listing of where you can park with your trailer or horse box.
The vast majority (73%) of you find out where to ride from friends, closely followed by local knowledge. Interestingly, 29% of you refer to this website compared to only 10% who refer to your local council.
We hope that this gives you a quick insight into some of the main results and trends we have found from the survey. Please do feel free to contact us either directly at info@bridleways.co.uk or through the forum with any further thoughts or suggestions.
During the early part of 2008 we will be conducting a couple of further surveys in order to investigate how we might develop further useful tools and information for you to use. We hope that you will contribute to these too and look forward to your feedback.
Thank you once again for completing the survey, your views are invaluable to us.
