Believe it or not, its been three years since we first launched our website Bridleways.co.uk to the equestrian community. It’s been a long journey, and potentially we have even further to travel to make it a really useful service. But with every journey you reach a crossroads, and we have with this project, do we carry on, change its focus or simply abandon and do something else?
When we devised the project in 2004, our research concluded that the riding community was crying out for a central database to download and share routes, just like ramblers and cyclists.
In many cases we were right, we have now over 20,000 registered users, who have shown an interest in what we are doing. And we average nearly a thousand unique visitors to the site every day.
The reality is we are struggling to cover even the basic costs of running the service let alone adding new developments or researching and developing routes. We are not some big corporate or government agency, we are just two people who run this over and above our regular day jobs; digging ever deeper into our pockets. Put simply without your support we cannot afford to keep the service going indefinitely, its just not viable.
But you can make a difference without it costing you a single penny! We have now become an affiliate partner of eBay. So if you register with eBay.co.uk, (assuming you are not already) we receive a small payment when you activate the account.
All you need to do is visit Bridleways.co.uk and click on the eBay banner on the top of every page and register. You are not committed to purchase anything, although we have put some useful equestrian eBay links on our site.
If you are already an avid eBayer then all you need to do is click on one of the links on the bridleways website and we will earn a small commission from eBay each time you buy something.
Your support really counts and could make the difference to whether we carry on with the project or not.
Kind regards
