What is bridleways.co.uk? Our goal is to enable horse riders to share information on where they ride within a central resource. This is achieved by providing a website that encourages riders to share route information and use the community forums. The basic idea is that local riders submit details on where they ride, so other riders can benefit from their knowledge and use the routes themselves. Each year the network of routes is growing but we do rely on the goodwill of riders to help, so if there are no routes listed in your area maybe you can help us.
What you can do Users of the website can search for routes nationally and contribute to the service by submitting their own local or popular riding routes. The website also allows users to print off and comment on the routes included on the website.
What we do We spend a considerable amount of time researching and walking routes across England and Wales. We then share the information and photographs on this website.
Why did we set up the website? Bridleways.co.uk is wholly owned and managed by Catherine and Richard Wheatcroft. We created bridleways.co.uk in response to our own frustrations in not being able to find online published riding information for the East Midlands area. Based on feedback many of you also have the same frustration. The project grew and grew, where we now have a community of over 20,000 registered users, who between them have viewed over 1.6 million pages in its first 24 months of operation!
We also felt that many bridleways and other rights of way for horses were becoming neglected or under used. So by including them as part of our network, we feel it will help safeguard them for future generations to enjoy.
Donate and keep the project going Managing this website is a huge undertaking and no one gets paid for their work. So if you've enjoyed your time on this site and appreciate our efforts, feel free to contribute a little to keep the site alive and keep us in tea, biscuits and of course new walking boots! To donate, please send a cheque payable to bridleways.co.uk to the following address.
