AMBER VALLEY
The borough of Amber Valley is located in the central part of Derbyshire. The landscape is similar to areas of the lowland Peak District in scenery. In broad terms the area is split into two by the A38, with the built up residential and industrial areas to the east and more rural areas to the west. The primary towns and villages are Kirk Langley and Mackworth in the south, Belper, Ambergate, Ripley and Heanor in the centre and Alfreton in the north Bridleways and other rights of ways in this area are managed by Derbyshire County Council.

The area does not have any long distance trails, but has some bridleways that could be developed into useful circuits. One of the best bridleways passes the historic Wingfield Manor, near South Wingfield.

We suggest that to get the most out of the area, you purchase the following Ordnance Survey Explorer maps: 259 and 269 to use in conjunction with our routes.
