ASHFIELD
The district of Ashfield is located to the north of Nottingham. The primary towns and villages are Hucknell, Papplewick and Newstead in the south and Annesley Woodhouse, Kirkby in Ashfield and Sutton in Ashfield in the north.

From a riding perspective the majority of public bridleways and quiet lanes are located in the north east of the district. In conjunction with Gedling District Council they have created the Hidden Valleys countryside project, which will have some provision for bridleways. In addition to public bridleways there are a number of Forestry Commission managed trails that riders can purchase permits for.

The main roads to get around the area are the M1, A38, A60, A611 and the B6011. We suggest that to get the most out of the area, you purchase Ordnance Survey Explorer maps 260 and 270 to use in conjunction with our routes.
