DERBYSHIRE DALES
The district of Derbyshire Dales is largely a rural area that incorporates a significant part of the Peak National Park. The district’s primary towns and villages include Doveridge and Ashboune to the south, Wirksworth, Hartington and Matlock in the centre and Bakewell, Tideswell and Hathersage to the north.

The area has a number of long distance trails, notably the High Peak, Tissington, and Hartington trails which are ideal at any time of the year. The area also has a number of very attractive routes that utilise bridleways such as Gratton Dale near Youlgreave and Carlton Lees near Chatsworth.

Bridleways and other rights of ways in this area are managed by Derbyshire County Council.

We suggest that to get the most out of the area, you purchase the following Ordnance Survey Explorer maps: OL24 and 259 to use in conjunction with our routes.
