The borough of Melton is known equally well as a horse riding area and for it’s pork pie fame! The area is located in the north east area of Leicestershire. Melton Mowbray itself is the primary town and is located in the centre of the borough. Other villages in the area include Great Dalby and Thorpe Satchville in the south, Old Dalby and Ashfordby in the west, Wymondham and Sproxton in the east and Bottesford and Redmile to the north.
From a riding perspective the area offers stunning scenery over the Vale of Belvoir as well as the edge of the Wolds. Of particular note is Burrough Hill Country Park, which offers stunning scenery of this part of Leicestershire. The main roads for getting around the area are the A6006 A606, A607, B6047 and the B676. We suggest that to get the most out of the area, you purchase the following Ordnance Survey Explorer maps: 234, 246, 247 to use in conjunction with our routes.
