North West Leicestershire |
| NORTH WEST LEICESTERSHIRE |
As its names implies the borough covers the North West part of Leicestershire. The principle towns and villages are Ibstock and Coalville in the south, Measham and Ashby de la Zouch to the west and Castle Donington to the north. From a riding perspective the area has a number of unconnected bridleways that ideally need to be linked together to form useful circuits. The villages of Swepstone and Heather have a number of bridleways that could be linked together. The National Forest does allow certain access to some routes, but currently only the Sence Valley Trail, near Ibstock is promoted.
Due to the close proximity of Nottingham East Midlands Airport, please be aware that around the north of the borough aircraft will be either taking off or landing and consequently will be much lower and noisier than normal. The area can be reached easily by the following roads: M1, M42, A42, A444, A511. We suggest that to get the most out of the area, you purchase the Ordnance Survey Explorer map: 245 to use in conjunction with our routes.
