STAFFORDSHIRE MOORLANDS
The Staffordshire Moorlands district is located in the north of Staffordshire and the district is extensively rural. The primary towns and villages in the area are Cheadle, Oakamoor, Alton and Caverswall in the south. In the west Biddulph, Rudyard and Rushton, in the east is Waterhouses, Grindon, Hulme End and Alstonfield. In the north is Flash and Hollinsclough. Leek is located centrally within the district.

From a riding perspective the best area is around the Manifold Valley in the east of the area as there are plenty of trails, bridleways and quiet country lanes. The Staffordshire County Council also provide access to the woodland around Oakamoor on the purchase of a riding permit.

The main roads to get around the area are the A52, A53, A523 and B5053. We suggest that to get the most out of the area, you purchase the following Ordnance Survey Explorer maps: OL24, 258 and 259 to use in conjunction with our routes.
