| ISLE OF WIGHT |
The Isle of Wight is located on the south coast and is a short ferry journey across the Solent from either Portsmouth or Southampton. The island is largely rural in character, but in the summer months is a major tourist destination. The primary towns on the island are Cowes and Ryde in the north, Sandown, Shanklin and Ventnor in the east, Yarmouth in the west and Newport located centrally. The island has a good network of roads that circumnavigate the coastline as well as some that intersect the inland parts.
From a riding perspective the majority of the routes are located in the south or east of the island, such as Luccombe Down or Chale in the south. We suggest that to get the most out of the area, you purchase the following Ordnance Survey Explorer map: OL29, to use in conjunction with our routes.
