| LEICESTERSHIRE |
Leicestershire is located in the centre of the East Midlands and has varied and interesting terrain. The county’s primary towns are Market Harborough and Lutterworth in the south, Hinckley and Ashby de la Zouch to the east and Loughborough and Melton Mowbray to the north. Getting about the county is easy as the area is well served by the M1, M42 as well as the A5, A6, A46, A47 and A50.
From a riding perspective the best areas are in east Leicestershire, as there are more bridleways and minor roads in this area. Other areas that are pleasant include Beacon Hill near Loughborough, Burrough Hill near Melton Mowbray and Bosworth Battlefield and the Sence Valley Trail all have provision for riding. The only long distance trail is the Brampton Trail starting in Market Harborough. The rest of Leicestershire is not as well served by long distance trails.
We suggest that to get the most out of the area, you purchase the following Ordnance Survey Explorer maps: 222, 223, 232, 233 and 246, to use in conjunction with our routes.
